What's my Why?

As a preschool teacher, I don't just teach; I facilitate a unique learning experience. I create an environment that maximizes each child's potential and celebrates individuality. My strategies are not rigid but adaptable; they are designed for each student. I foster a positive and motivating atmosphere, nurturing social and emotional skills and promoting autonomy and critical thinking. By setting high, clear expectations and forging meaningful connections with my students, I prioritize their academic performance and overall well-being, helping them become well-rounded and capable individuals. This approach doesn't just inspire and motivate; it ignites a passion for personal growth and development in every student.

Creating and leading change that speaks from the heart Kotter (2013), continually improving practices, and adapting to student needs are essential in an ever-changing educational context. Communicating authentically, empathetically, and passionately is critical to establishing an emotional connection with children and motivating, inspiring, and supporting their personal and academic development.

I aim to improve my language skills at Cleveland ISD through a rotation system. This approach, which emphasizes the importance of change, active involvement of parents and colleagues, accurate goal setting, and open communication, ensures effective change and makes each colleague feel valued and integral to the process. The benefits of this strategy are multiple, including better communication, better learning, and a more inclusive learning environment.

Simon Sinek (2009) explains that the “why” is the purpose, cause, or core belief that inspires a person or an organization. According to Sinek, influential leaders and successful organizations communicate the “why” with the “how” they engage with people and core values, motivating them. Act and make them feel part of something bigger than themselves.

Applied in the context of my Cleveland ISD organization and the Innovation proposal to develop phonics language in preschool children through a rotation system, I can use the concepts of "why" and "how" to communicate the importance of this change. Instead of simply saying what will be done (develop phonetic language) and how it will be done (using a rotation system), I can start by explaining why children should develop this skill. By communicating clearly and convincingly,' he said, 'I can inspire parents, colleagues, and students to support and actively participate in this initiative, emphasizing their crucial role in its success.'

By applying Simon Sinek's (2009) "why" in my Innovation proposal, we can create a sense of urgency and lay the foundation for effective change Krotter (2013) by communicating in a clear and emotionally resonant way the importance of developing phonetic language in preschool children through Cleveland's blended learning. Independent School District.

Why?

As a preschool teacher, I firmly believe that teachers have the power to shape future leaders. They inspire and guide students to reach their full potential, set goals, and overcome challenges. This instills a passion for lifelong learning and prepares them to thrive in the digital age, allowing them to make valuable contributions to society.

How?

In our meaningful blended learning environments (CSLE), we empower students by giving them choices, responsibilities, and a voice through genuine opportunities. We inspire and teach them to set goals and overcome challenges, helping them develop their potential and confidence in an inclusive and authentic environment. This motivates them to participate actively in their learning and prepares them for a successful future.

What?

We cultivate educational leaders who promote critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration, contributing to student development through effective teaching methods and meaningful learning environments.

As a preschool teacher in Cleveland ISD, I understand the importance of creating a sense of urgency to drive positive changes in the education of our students, following the principles presented by Kotter in his videos "Heat of Change" Kotter (2011) and "Leading Change: Establish a Sense of Urgency" Kotter (2013). Generating a sense of urgency is crucial to mobilize everyone involved and direct them toward immediate and effective action.

The “why” is a powerful tool to speak to the heart and create a sense of urgency. It helps us connect emotionally with our students, parents, and colleagues, motivating them to act. Here is my "why" statement:

My 'why' is not just a statement; it's a call to action. Every child has unlimited potential and deserves an education that inspires them to dream big, set goals, and overcome challenges and empowers them to do so. As a teacher, I don't just aim to provide a learning environment; my approach is flexible and tailored to each student, where their potential is nurtured, and their dreams are encouraged. Together, we can make a lasting difference in our students' lives and our community's future. Every day counts, and every child's potential is worth investing in.

Using this powerful 'why' statement, we can create a shared sense of urgency and mobilize our educational community toward positive and meaningful change. This 'why' statement is not just a statement but a source of inspiration and motivation; it ensures every child can fully develop their potential and positively impact society.
