and your Learning Community

(5320)

Selected Score: 90

My name is Yunuen Malagon, and I am a passionate preschool teacher focused on innovative learning. I have developed an educational approach emphasizing phonetic language work through a station rotation model. This hybrid instructional method integrates technology, creativity, and hands-on activities to create excellent and meaningful individualized student experiences.

In this self-assessment. I will report my progress in the course, highlighting my successes, the new insights I have incorporated into my teaching philosophy, and areas for further development. I will also evaluate my sense of connection within the learning community.

What is working

During this course, I have utilized essential techniques that have significantly improved my performance and supported my professional development.

I have demonstrated several noteworthy aspects:

Meeting Deadlines and Active Participation: I completed all course configurations, resources, activities, and discussions on time. I also actively participated in discussions, providing detailed contributions and responding constructively to my peer's questions.

Practical Implementation of Learning Strategies: I integrated the information from the course directly into a portion of the improvement plan. I utilized digital applications such as ABCmouse, Starfall, and Reading Eggs to reinforce the activities from the digital stations, designing tasks that addressed my group's phonics needs.

Area for Improvement

While I feel my performance was strong, I identified several areas where I was to continue growing:

  1. Broader Collaboration: I worked closely with my core group but realized I missed opportunities to interact with individuals from other groups and contexts. Engaging with a wider range of colleagues would have enriched my perspective and helped me consider alternative approaches to implementing strategies in my classroom.

  2. Exploring Additional Resources: Although I completed all the required readings and materials for the course, I could have sought more supplementary resources. Doing so would have expanded my knowledge and strengthened my practice related to the course content.

  3. Increased Depth in Self-Assessment: White, I regularly reflected on my progress. I could have been more thorough in this area. I want to understand my areas for improvement better and set more specific goals for future courses.

Contribution to My Learning

This course has significantly transformed my teaching approach to all learners effectively. Here are some of the key ways it has impacted my learning:

Designing Custom Playlists: I created personalized playlists that allowed my students to progress. These playlists were tailored to meet their needs while ensuring they consistently worked on phoneme awareness and word segmentation.

Technology Integration: I utilized platforms to reinforce core learning concepts and motivate my students to participate more actively. These tools enabled me to create interactive and accessible learning opportunities, which my students thoroughly enjoyed. This approach made learning more enjoyable and engaging for them.

Additionally, my participation in the central discussion thread my learning and that of others. I conducted these discussions with my team, Nelyda Rodriguez and Siary Rodriguez. I ensured that my contributions were informed and relevant to the conversation. I also posted my comments promptly, allowing others to respond or share their thoughts.

Effect of the Accelerated ADL Option

Taking two ADL modules simultaneously, I could recognize and make meaningful connections between what I learned in both courses. For example:

Instructional Design and Digital Strategies: I applied my understanding of instructional design to improve the digital activities at my stations, ensuring they aligned with the learning objectives.

Leadership and Organisational Change: I utilized my knowledge of various leadership theories to influence discussions with colleagues interested in implementing a station model in their classrooms.

These experiences helped me reinforce my knowledge and provided integrated insights into how to enhance my teaching practices.
